Kings Cottage is a romantic retreat with a fantastic location in Alston, Cumbria. The charming cottage features traditional decor including exposed beams and woodburner to lend a cosy feel. We recommend Kings Cottage to couples looking for a tranquil holiday base and a high standard of accommodation.

The cottage has one bedroom, a living room and a modern fitted kitchen. The property does not have a garden but open countryside is all around and the cobbled yard offers some outside space.

Alston is a traditional and very friendly town with a selection of shops, pubs and cafes. Local attractions include Hadrian's Wall, Beamish Open Air Museum, Durham Cathedral as well as the stunning Lake District National Park, which is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor pursuits.

Recent guests have commented that the cottage offers excellent value for money and the location is fantastic. One well behaved dog is welcome and charged at £10 per week.

Pet Friendly Days Out in Cumbria
Brantwood was the home of John Ruskin, a Victorian writer, artist and visionary and is a great place for a day trip in Cumbria. The site is beautifully situated and affords breathtaking lake and mounting views. There are gardens to walk round and dogs on leads are very welcome. The site is also home to the Jumping Jenny restaurant which serves fresh local food in a relaxed environment.
Mirehouse and Gardens
Mirehouse and Gardens is situated just outside of the popular tourist spot of Keswick and is a beautiful family run historic house in a stunning countryside setting. Visitors can enjoy live piano music and a fun children's quiz in the house and can also stroll around the woodland grounds, where there are playareas for children, lakeside and poetry walks and a fantastic tea room specialising in Cumbrian food. Dogs are welcome but restrictions may apply.
High Head Sculpture Valley
High Head Sculpture Valley in Cumbria is situated in the charming village of Carlisle and is a good choice for a dog friendly day trip. The family friendly contemporary art gallery is set on a working dairy farm with 5 acres of outdoor sculpture park and 70 acres of farm walks to enjoy. There is also a tea room and visitors looking to be pampered can head to the luxury health suite with hydrotherapy spa bath and sauna. Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds.
Holker Hall
Holker Hall is one of the regions most popular attractions and is situated near Cartmel in the south of Cumbria. The family friendly site has beautiful gardens featuring rare flora and fauna, formal areas and plenty of open space for children to run around. There is also an excellent tearoom but visitors are welcome to bring a picnic too. Dogs are welcome in the gardens but must be kept under close control.
