Pet Friendly Cottage Company

Sleeps 4

Wagtails Cottage enjoys an idyllic setting surrounded by unspoiled countryside.  The cottage is bursting with charm and character and is a holiday home to be proud of.

One of the best aspects of this property is the gorgeous private garden which enjoys magnificent views across to Dartmoor.

If you like to get out and explore then the Tors of Dartmoor are just ten miles from Wagtails Cottage.  In fact, this whole region will appeal to nature lovers with country walks and wildlife everywhere you look.

You really have the best of both worlds in this cottage with a feeling of being out in the country and yet just 2 miles from Winkleigh.  Winkleigh is a typical rural Devon village where you will find 2 pubs, a cafe, shop and post office.  There are more amenities a little further afield in Oakehampton.

The cottage sleeps 4 and has two bedrooms.  A lovely feature is the roll top bath in the bathroom.  We also love the wood burning stove in the sitting room which gives the place a cosy and traditional atmosphere.  You even get a starter pack of logs free in the Winter season.

A cot and highchair are available on request.  This cottage would be ideal for couples or small families looking for a lovely base to explore this area of Devon.  And there's no need to leave any of the family behind as one well behaved dog is welcome.

This stunning historic site is beautifully located on the fringe of Dartmoor, The castle is very impressive and boasts some amazing defensive features including a 13th-century tower keep on a mound, which is now famous for being a prison notorious for harsh punishments! Visitors can also see an earlier Norman earthwork castle and the Saxon town defenses. Dogs on leads are welcome although restrictions may apply.
Okenhampton Castle
A popular dog friendly day out in Devon. Visitors can see the impressive remains of one of the largest castles in Devon. The location above the rushing River Okement is incredibly beautiful and the whole site is ideal for dogs that need lots of space to enjoy their walks. Dogs may have to stay on leads in some areas.

The self-guided walking trails are perfect for families and of course the family dog will enjoy every minute! The Trails are between 1 and 4 miles long and are themed with either treasure hunt, spy mission or murder mystery options. Please be aware that the trails may pass through busy town areas as well as parks and gardens so dogs may have to be on leads at times.
