Lake District Pet Friendly Cottages

lake district pet friendly cottagesThe Lake District is the largest National Park in England with some of the most spectacular and stunning scenery too. If you are looking for a pet friendly holiday location then the Lake District offers some fantastic walking opportunities and plenty of areas to get out an explore with your dog.

There are more than 3500 km of pathways leading around the lovely countryside of the Lake District so you can walk or cycle to your heart's content. Around 55% of the National Park is open to walk freely around.

Just some other activities you might like to do in this area include getting on the water itself by taking a Lake Cruise or even hire a boat yourself.  For the more adventurous Kayaking is available on the lake by Coniston Boating Centre which is a perfect spot.  If you enjoy outdoor activities and want to try hiking then there are many opportunities - you could even hike up Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in the Lakes.

Fun Days out for couples and families are plentiful.  Take a trip to Brockhole, the Lake District Visitor Centre which has some delightful gardens leading down onto Lake Windermere.  Entry to the house, grounds and lake shore is free of charge.  There is also free wifi.  However there are parking charges.  The whole family will be kept entertained with new exhibitions and events on regularly and an indoor play area for the kids.  Some of the popular events include building a raft, a survival in the wilderness course and watersports. When you fancy a rest and a bite to eat head to the cafe for a pick me up.

Once you have decided that the Lake District is the place for your next friendly holiday you'll probably start looking for the best pet friendly places to stay.  Cottages in the lake district can be an ideal choice of holiday accommodation because of their scenic locations and charming appearances.  Cottages can provide flexible, pet friendly accommodation on a self catering basis making them a budget friendly option too.  And don't forget that prices are per cottage and not per person so you are likely to save money when compared to hotels in the area as well as enjoying a better home from home holiday experience.

Some of our most popular pet friendly cottages in this area include Owl Cottage which is located in Appleby, Westmorland.  This cottage would be perfect for couples with a pet and provides a pretty and comfortable base to explore this area.  There is a super king size bed in the bedroom and a well equipped kitchen.  The cottage overlooks the hustle and bustle of Appleby so you feel you are central in this thriving town.  Spend your days exploring The National Park or perhaps try some of the countryside walks near to the cottage.  Or you could explore the town itself which has much to offer including a castle, medieval church, shops and cafes.
