Families looking for easy access to both The Lake District National Park and the beautiful Yorkshire Dales should look no further than 4 Green Cross Cottages. The stone built, terraced cottage sleeps 4 and has a wonderful location close the centre of the pretty Lakeland village of Burton-in-Kendal. This location is ideal for those who enjoy walking and cycling and is also popular with nature lovers.

Close by the market town of Kirkby is well worth a visit and the bustling seaside resorts of Morecambe and Blackpool are also within easy reach. The cottage itself is warm and welcoming with a cosy living room with gas fired wood burner effect stove, a spacious fitted kitchen and two bedrooms. There is also a patio area with furniture and BBQ for alfresco dining.

Recent reviews of 4 Green Cross Cottages have been very impressive with many guests planning to return. One well behaved dog is permitted.

Pet Friendly Days Out in Lake District
Muncaster Castle
Muncaster Castle is situated in the very beautiful western Lake District and is highly recommended for a dog friendly day out. The gardens around the castle are spectacular and your dog will really enjoy walking around them. The site is also home to The World Owl Centre which is especially popular with families. If you are staying for the whole day you can enjoy lunch in Creeping Kate's Tea Room or bring along a picnic. Dogs must be kept on leads.
Grizedale Forest
Situated near the popular area of Hawkshead and is the perfect spot for those with energetic dogs to walk! There are trails to suit walkers of all abilities and spectacular scenery is all around. Children may also enjoy spotting the sculptures dotted along the way. This is an area teeming with wildlife so is also a good choice for nature lovers.
Mirehouse and Gardens
Near the popular holiday spot of Keswick is one of our favourite dog friendly days out. The site offers something for everyone in the family and the impressive historic site has a stunning setting. You will find plenty of dog friendly areas within the grounds as well as several woodland walks, playgrounds and a tea room serving tasty local food. Dogs are required to be on leads in some areas.
Brockhole Visitor Centre
Offers interactive exhibitions, an adventure playground for children, a shop where you can pick up a souvenir and lovely gardens which your dog will just love exploring. Dogs on leads are very welcome but owners are asked to ensure that they clear up after their pets.
