Amblers' Rest

Sleeps 5

This cosy, three-bedroomed, dog-friendly cottage sleeps five people and two well behaved dogs. It’s close to the busy fishing port of Amble where there are shops, pubs, restaurants and a regular Sunday market.

Puffin cruises around Coquet Island depart regularly from Amble harbour and Warkworth Castle is just a few minutes drive away. This is a great location for getting around Northumberland, and the cottage is right next to the bustling harbour and beach – perfect for both dogs and children.

Ambler’s Rest is a bright and spacious terraced cottage with three good sized bedrooms, a dining and sitting room and an immaculate kitchen with washing machine. It has an enclosed courtyard with outdoor seating and a barbecue, and is just a three minute walk from the nearest pub and shop.

There is a wealth of outdoor activities and watersports to take part in along the Northumberland coast, including sailing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing and power boating. You could also take beach surf lessons at North Druridge and Warkworth Bays and set off on some scenic coastal walks from Amble.

Pet Friendly Days Out in Northumberland
Northumberland has some amazing beaches which are ideal for long walks with energetic dogs. The region also has some stunning coastal paths and trails where dogs can enjoy a run while their owners enjoy the stunning scenery. Restrictions may apply in some areas.
Belsay Hall and Garden
A fantastic place for a day trip and is highly recommended for those with dogs. The stunning 30 acre gardens surrounding the main house offer plenty of places to explore including the unique quarry garden and the colourful formal terraces. Dogs must be kept on leads.
Cragside is a real gem in Northumberland's crown, offering beautiful gardens on a very grand scale. The site boasts several rather unique areas including the largest hand made rock garden in Europe, an Italianate ornamental garden and an orchard house bursting with fruit. If you have an energetic dog to walk you will find several paths and trails leading from the estate and extending through the countryside including a wonderful riverside walk which is also family friendly. Dogs must be kept on leads while within the estate.
Many Pubs in Northumberland are dog friendly, with dogs being made welcome in the bar areas and beer gardens. Some even have water bowls outside so you dog can enjoy a refreshing pint too! The Hoe and Anchor in Almouth, Mizen Head Hotel in Bambrough and Caister Arms in Beadnell are among our favourite dog friendly establishments which also serve excellent food.
