Peak District Pet Friendly Cottages

peak district pet friendly cottagesIf you're looking for a pet friendly holiday and enjoy outdoor activities then have you considered the Peak District?

With plenty of walks for "scamp" and a whole host of outdoor activities on the doorstep for you, then everyone is happy!  Just some activities available in the area include Fell Running, Rock Climbing and Air Sports.  And if you prefer an easier pace - walking, cycling and horse riding.

There are also Ranger Guided walks on offer and you can take along your dog on most of the walks as long as it's on a lead.  One recommended walk for beginners is the Tissington Trail.

The Peak District covers Derbyshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.  There are many local attractions and for some inspiration you could visit one of the visitor centres at Bakewell, Upper Derwent or Castleton.   If you like cycling then there are some fantastic routes in Upper Derwent Valley.  And for a fun day out with the dog head for Chatsworth Estate and enjoy exploring the fabulous 1000-acre park.  This place is open year round but especially ideal in the summer months when you can enjoy a picnic in the outdoors.

We have over 100 pet friendly cottages in the Peak District so you are bound to find the perfect accommodation for you and your family, and even your pet!

We love The Hayloft Cottage in the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales.  Sleeping 2 this place is perfect for couples and is well situated for walking making it great for pets too.  There is a well equipped kitchen and a shared garden which has the benefit of countryside views.  For a nice day out the Spa town of Buxton is within easy driving distance.  One well behaved dog is welcome.

For couples Willow House Cottage in Winkhill, Derbyshire Dales offers fantastic countryside views and has a charming lawned garden.  This is a popular cottage for those looking for an attractive stone built base to explore and for the fun loving - Alton Towers theme park is just 6 miles away.  If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground than up in the air on roller coasters then the stunning Manifold Valley walking and cycle tracks can be easily accessed from the village.

Nine Ladies Stone Circle
Nine Ladies Stone Circle in Derbyshire is a complete early bronze age stone circle, forming part of a complex of prehistoric circles on Stanton Moor. You can enjoy stunning views from the site and easy access to several walking paths. Dogs on leads are welcome. Contact site for any restrictions.
Peveril Castle
Peveril Castle is a fantastic English heritage site, perched on cliff tops above the pretty village of Castleton. Dogs love exploring this site and there are several fantastic walks nearby including the very scenic Cavedale Route which is very popular with nature lovers and photographers. Dogs must be kept on leads at the castle. Restrictions may apply in some areas.
Treasure Trails
Treasure trails Leicestershire and Rutland have been created to offer fun for the whole family and many bring their dogs along too. These self guided walking tours are between one and three miles and are themed. You can enjoy treasure hunt, murder mystery and spy mission walks, many of which pass through parks, gardens and woodland areas, so plenty of places for your dog to run around. Some cafes and pubs along the way have water bowls for dogs but we recommend taking some water with you just in case. Please not that dogs may need to be on leads at some points during the walk.
