Yorkshire Pet Friendly Cottages

yorkshire pet friendly cottagesIf you are looking for a pet friendly holiday destination where you can relax, unwind and escape form the day to day hustle and bustle of life then Yorkshire is ideal with its cobbled streets, market towns and stunning countryside. Yet Yorkshire is also ideal for those seeking all the fun of a traditional seaside holiday with the resorts of Scarborough and Filey offering sandy beaches, promenades, fun fairs and fish and chip shops. Yorkshire certainly has something for everyone.

It really does not get much more dog friendly than Yorkshire. The beaches here are some of the cleanest in the UK and most have dedicated areas where dogs are permitted even in high season including the glorious South Bay Beach in Scarborough. The region also has some fantastic parks where dogs will love running around and having fun with the whole family. Peasholm Park is highly recommended and a boat trip around the island is a must. Of course if you have an energetic dog to walk then the coastal paths and countryside trails are fantastic. The Dams Nature reserve is a good place to start.

Pet friendly cottages in Yorkshire are plentiful. We love Sweet pea Cottage near Aysgarth which is a delightful terraced Redmire cottage with plenty of character including a multi fuel stove, patio and spectacular countryside views. The cottage sleeps 4 and also offers easy access to village amenities and nearby market towns. Usherwoods Barn is another of our favourites and is a good choice for larger families. The outstanding barn conversion has a lovely setting in the rural hamlet of Tatham near Bentham and features luxurious underfloor heating and views of magnificent three peaks. The cottage sleeps 7 and comes very highly recommended. Both of these cottages permit pets and are well located for dogs that enjoy long walks.

Beaches
Being close to a good beach is a high priority for those of us with dogs. Whilst on holiday in Yorkshire there are plenty of beaches to visit along the rugged east coast. Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington all have very popular beaches where dog walking is permitted in some areas. Restrictions may apply during peak season when the beaches are filled with families enjoying traditional seaside holidays.

Wolds Way

The Wolds Way is a 79 mile trail through the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. For energetic dogs that enjoy long walks it does not get much better than this! The paths pass through areas of outstanding natural beauty so you can expect plenty of open space and spectacular scenery.

Beverley
The historic market town of Beverley is well worth a visit and many dog owners can be spotted strolling around the market where there are stall selling everything from clothes and food to treats and toys for your pet. The town also has a couple of good pubs where dogs are welcome in the bar areas.

Castle Howard
One of Yorkshires top attractions with the grand house, stunning grounds and parkland to explore. During peak times visitors can also enjoy organised activities such as Easter egg hunts, crafting sessions, nature trails and tours of the house. Dogs are welcome on leads in the grounds. Restrictions may apply in some areas and owners are asked to ensure that they clean up after their pets.
